Dimitrios Chaniotis graduated from the University of Athens Medical School (suma cum laude). He obtained his Doctorate degree (Ph.D.), with first class honours from the University of Athens Medical School. He completed his training in Public Health MSc (National School of Public Health) and Cardiology (Therapeutic Clinic – University of Athens, Medical School) and he is board certified since then. He also was awarded the Diploma of European Cardiologist by the European Board for the Specialty of Cardiology and certified of the “Public Health – Social Medicine” specialty by the Ministry of Health. He has enough publications in International and Greek peer reviewed medical journals and many presentations in medical congresses. He is also co-author in university scientific books and teaching in the fields of Physiology, Cardiology, Nutrition, Internal Medicine, Pharmacology and Geriatric. He participates in postgraduate (MSc) teaching university programs. He received postgraduate and postdoctorate scholarships by the Greek Foundation for State Scholarships (I.K.Y.). He is an active member in many of the Hellenic and European Medical Societies. He was Research Associate in Foundation of Biomedical Research, Academy of Athens and Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology (FESC) and also Consultant on Health Education of the Hellenic Foundation of Cardiology and President in Scientific Alumni Society of the National School of Public Health. He was Medical Officer in the Greek Navy military service
